Elsa Marie Keefe is an artist, writer, and friend who spent the afternoon exploring the Cloud Tunnel in my Brooklyn studio. She believes in the human body as a source of beauty, wonder, and innocence, and I was happy to clothe her in my projected imagery. The two series of images were "The Sun and the Horn" - a tribute to the magic of the Summer Solstice, and my new series called "Earthlings" where my paintings of trees, animals and abstract imagery are merged into a flowing stream. This image won an award at Upstream Gallery in Hastings on Hudson, NY, in their exhibition "Our Bodies, Ourselves, Fifty Years On" celebrating the iconic book that was a milestone for women. The judge and curator was Dr. Wendy Simonds, author, specialist in Birth and Death, Reproductive Justice, and Gender and Sexuality.
